01-26-2020 | 11:159 AM | TRENTON,NJ— An SUV slammed into a New Jersey Realty Office after colliding with a Trenton Police Department Cruiser. The crash happened Saturday January 25, 2020 around 11:15 a.m. at the intersection of Brunswick Avenue and Mulberry Street.
Trenton Police Department spokesman Captain Stephen Varn said the officer was responding to a reported disturbance when the accident happened. The 67-year-old woman driving a Kia Sportage crashed into the Home Ex Realty LLC office after colliding with the Trenton Police Officer.
The Trenton Police Officer and Kia driver were both taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center for treatment. As of Sunday morning the officer was released from the hospital while the 67-year-old woman remained hospitalized with a broken pelvis.
The circumstances surrounding how the crash ocurred is still under investigation. Its unclear if the police SUV had its emergency lights activated.
01-24-2020 | 8:05 PM | CHARLOTTE,NC— Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is investigating three shootings within minutes of each other in Charlotte, NC Friday night with one turning deadly. On Friday January 24, 2020 at approximately 8:05 p.m., CMPD Patrol Officers with Steele Creek Division responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call for service in the 700 block of Edgegreen Drive. When Police & Paramedics arrived they located a male with a gunshot wound. He was transported to the hospital by paramedics with non-life-threatening injuries.
Two minutes later at 8:07 p.m., officers in Steele Creek responded to a shots fired call near 200 Stone Post Road. A male victim was located in a backyard of a home with a gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced deceased by paramedics on scene.
The deceased victim’s identity is being withheld pending family notification. Twelve minutes after the two shootings in Southwest Charlotte, CMPD Freedom Divison Patrol officers responded to a third reported shooting. The third shooting happened on Edgewood Road. Paramedics transported one victim with non life threatening injuries to a hospital following that shooting.
After a preliminary investigation detectives believe the two shootings on Edgegreen Drive & Stone Post Road are related in nature. Both crime scenes are approximately 2 miles apart. Crime Scene Search responded to the call for service to process the scene and collect physical evidence. The investigation into all three shootings is active and ongoing.
01-25-2020 | 12:40 PM | PLAINVIEW,NY— A 65 year old female is dead after a fire swept through a Long Island Home Saturday Afternoon. The fire reported to 911 around 12:40 p.m. Saturday at a home on Audrey Avenue in Plainview, New York.
Multiple neighboring fire departments from Hicksville, Bethpage, Syosset, Farmingdale and Melville responded to the blaze to assist the Plainview Fire Department. Firefighters battled heavy fire conditions in a bedroom on the 2nd floor of the home.
Fire officials say crews encountered clutter conditions or collier masion conditions inside the home which made fighting the blaze difficult. Fire officials confirm firefighters discovered the deceased victim on the second floor of the home after the fire was extinguished.
The fire remains under investigation by the Nassau County Fire Marshal. Nassau County Police say they believe the cause of the fire is non-criminal.
01-24-2020 | 3:30 PM | CHARLOTTE,NC— A freelance news photojournalist helped rescue a driver trapped in an overturn vehicle. The photojournalist was on his way to cover a separate crash when he came upon an overturn vehicle on Lancaster Highway near Southcrest Lane.
Bystanders were seen prior to Charlotte Fire Department and Mecklenburg EMS arriving trying to free the driver. The photojournalist put down his camera and assisted the group of bystanders in the rescue.
Firefighters from Charlotte Fire Department, Carolina Volunteer Fire Department & Pineville Fire Department worked together seamlessly to cut the driver from the blue Toyota.
Firefighters used stabilizers and secured the vehicle near a tree to prevent any movement while the JAWS OF LIFE operated. Firefighters worked fast to free the driver from the mangled metal. Paramedics with Mecklenburg EMS transported the victim to the trauma center at Atrium Health with life threatening injures.
01-21-2020 | 3:59 PM | CHARLOTTE,NC— A man walking on the tracks was injured after being struck by a Norfolk Southern Freight Train. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police responded to the report of a pedestrian hit at 3:59 p.m., on railroad tracks near Old Pineville Rd and Pineville Point Rd.
Police confirm a male pedestrian was walking on the tracks just south of the Archdale Drive Grade-Crossing when he was hit by a Norfolk Southern Train. Paramedics with Mecklenburg County EMS Agency (MEDIC) transported the victim to the trauma center at Atrium Health – Carolina Medical Center with a serious injury. The victims injured are being classified as life threatening. Police are investigating why the man was walking on the tracks prior to the collision.
