Fatal Crash

09-03-2019 | 5:30 PM | CATAWBA,SC On Tuesday September 3, 2019 a two-car crash claimed the lives of two people in Catawba, South Carolina. The crash was reported shortly after 5:00pm on SC-5 (Highway 5) just south of Cureton Ferry Road. South Carolina State Highway Patrol Troopers said the Ford pickup truck was traveling west on Highway 5 when it crossed the center line and hit the Ford van and a Jeep SUV that were traveling east on Highway 5. The York County Coroner’s Office confirmed that Lashawn Daniels, of Waxhaw, North Carolina died when his van collided with a pickup truck driven by Jackie Moss Jr., of Kings Mountain, North Carolina.

The driver of the SUV was airlifted to a hospital, and a passenger was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The van Daniels was driving was barley recognizable after the van burst into flames following the accident.

Lashawn Daniels was well known for penning songs for artists such as Beyoncé, Whitney Houston, Jennifer Lopez and Michael Jackson according to Daniels publicist JoJo Pada. Daniels wife, April expressed her sadness in a statement after her husbands sudden passing. ” It is with deep sorrow and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, family member and friend, Lashawn Daniels who was the victim of a fatal car accident in South Carolina,” A Grammy-award winning producer and songwriter, Daniels was a man of extraordinary faith and a pillar in our family.”

Daniels was a native of New Jersey known by many as Big Shiz. He is known for writing songs such as You Rock My World” by Michael Jackson, “It’s Not Right (But It’s Okay)” by Whitney Houston, and “Telephone” by Beyoncé featuring Lady Gaga. Recently he wrote a song by the now-iconic Monica and Brandy duet, “The Boy Is Mine.”

05-22-2019 | 7:10 AM | SYOSSET,NY The Nassau County Police Homicide Squad investigated a fatal auto accident involving a pedestrian on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at 7:10 a.m. in Syosset, New York.

According to detectives, a male driver operating an ambulette stopped on the southbound shoulder of Route 135 (Seaford Oyster Bay Expressway), south of Jericho Turnpike and was conversing with the operator of a second vehicle when a third vehicle sideswiped both vehicles and the ambulette driver. The ambulette driver who was identified as Herman Hanson, 74, of Hempstead, New York was pronounced at scene. The operator of the third vehicle remained at scene.

05-04-2019 | 08:50 PM | MASTIC,NY — Suffolk County Police Major Case Unit detectives are investigating a hit-and-run crash that killed a pedestrian in Mastic last night. 

A man was crossing Herkimer Street, at the intersection of Carlton Street, when he was struck by a southbound 2009 Chevrolet Tahoe at approximately 8:50 p.m. The driver of the Tahoe, Joseph Virga, 55, of Mastic, stopped the vehicle and called 911. A second vehicle, also travelling southbound on Herkimer Street, then struck the victim and fled the scene.

The victim, whose name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.

Detectives believe the second vehicle that struck the victim is a dark colored, four-door sedan that fled the scene southbound on Mastic Road.
