05-28-2019 | 9:37 PM | HICKSVILLE,NY— The Nassau County Police Homicide Squad is investigating a Serious Vehicular Accident involving a bicyclist that occurred on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at 9:37 p.m., in Hicksville, New York.
According to detectives, officers responded for a serious motor vehicle accident that occurred in the vicinity of Newbridge Road and Old Country Road. A male, 63, was driving a 2019 Nissan northbound on Newbridge Road and struck a bicyclist. The male bicyclist, 16, was crossing Old County Road west to east. The bicyclist suffered multiple head injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. He is listed in critical condition. The male driver had no injuries.
The vehicle was brake and safety tested. The investigation is ongoing.
05-22-2019 | 7:10 AM | SYOSSET,NY— The Nassau County Police Homicide Squad investigated a fatal auto accident involving a pedestrian on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at 7:10 a.m. in Syosset, New York.
According to detectives, a male driver operating an ambulette stopped on the southbound shoulder of Route 135 (Seaford Oyster Bay Expressway), south of Jericho Turnpike and was conversing with the operator of a second vehicle when a third vehicle sideswiped both vehicles and the ambulette driver. The ambulette driver who was identified as Herman Hanson, 74, of Hempstead, New York was pronounced at scene. The operator of the third vehicle remained at scene.
04-14-2019 | 10:30 PM | VALLEY STREAM,NY — A Cessna Pilot became disoriented in heavy fog causing the plane to go down in front of home after running out of fuel.
At 10:30pm on Sunday night a Cessna 172 made an emergency landing into a Long Island, New York neighborhood after running out of fuel. The plane which is a registered rental out Danny Waizman Flight School And Aircraft Rental in Farmingdale, New York was returning from a trip in Niagra Falls, New York.
The pilot Dongl Kim, 27 of Flushing, New York and his 2 passengers, Hung Joo Na, 27 of Flushing, New York & Jung Woo, 26 also of Flushing, New York were returning to Republic Airport in Farmingdale, New York when the unthinkable happened. As the plane approached the small suburban New York airport, the pilot attempted to land the plane unsuccessfully four times. According to Nassau County Police Department Commissioner Patrick Ryder, after the unsuccessful landing attempts at Republic Airport, the aircraft was redirected to John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) where again they unsuccessfully landed the plane twice.
The Nassau County Police Department confirms that the Cessna 172 continued on a wild ride very low on fuel as the clipped the rooftop of a church in Valley Stream, New York. The plane then careened into the front yard of a home at 113 Claredon Drive in Valley Stream, New York.
Commissioner Ryder said the overhead electrical wires prevented the small plane from striking the residential property on Claredon Drive. All three occupants on board were able to self-evacuate the aircraft prior to the arrival of police and emergency personnel. One passenger suffered a minor finger injury and and treated by EMS.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) responded to the scene and is currently conducting an investigation.

Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives are investigating an incident during which a man was found dead in Wyandanch early this morning.
A man entered 140 Long Island Ave. in an effort to escape the weather conditions and found another man dead inside the abandoned residence. The man flagged down police at approximately 3:15 a.m.
Alan Moore, 23, of Hempstead, has been identified as the man found dead at 140 Long Island Ave., Wyandanch on April 1. Homicide Detectives are asking anyone with information about Alan Moore to call the Homicide Squad at 631-852-6392.
