Charlotte NC Memorial Day Fatal Shooting (0 downloads)

05-27-2019 | 9:34 PM | CHARLOTTE,NC  Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 8800 block of Orren Court in the Steele Creek Division. The call for service came in at 9:34 p.m. on Monday, May 27, 2019.

Steele Creek Division patrol officers along with the Charlotte-Fire Department and MEDIC personnel, responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call for service. Upon arrival, first responders located a male with an apparent gunshot wound located inside a vehicle. Medic pronounced the victim deceased at the scene. His name will be released once his family has been notified of his death.

Homicide Detectives are currently canvassing the area to determine whether there are any additional witnesses to this incident.

Crime Scene Search responded to the call for service to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives of the Mecklenburg County District Attorney’s Homicide Prosecution Team, Victim Services, CFD, Medic and Operations Command responded to the scene.

This is an ongoing, active investigation.  Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call 704-432-TIPS and speak directly to a Homicide Unit Detective. 02-24-2019 | 03:53 AM | CHARLOTTE,NC —  Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation located in the 11400 block of Glenn Abbey Way in the South Division.  The call for service came in at 3:53 a.m. on Sunday, February 24, 2019.

South Division Officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call for service.  Upon their arrival, officers located a male and female inside of the residence with apparent gunshot wounds.  They were both pronounced deceased on scene by Medic.  Their identity will be released pending family notification. A third person was located with a gunshot wound and was transported by Medic with life-threatening injuries.

Homicide Detectives are currently canvassing the area to determine whether there are any witnesses to this incident.  At this time, detectives are not looking for any additional suspects.

On Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at approximately 6:01 p.m., CMPD officers from South Division responded to the 5400 block of Sharon Road in reference to a motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian in which the pedestrian was pronounced deceased on scene.  Upon arrival, officers located the victim in the roadway and a 2005 Lexus RX330 that had been involved in the crash.

The preliminary investigation shows that the Lexus, driven by Lauren Savage, was traveling northeast in the left hand lane of travel on Sharon Road and the victim was crossing Sharon Road to the west. The Lexus struck the victim within the left hand lane of travel and came to a stop within the left lane. The victim also came to a final resting position in the left lane. The victim was not crossing in a crosswalk; however there are no crosswalks in the area. Speed and impairment are not factors in this crash for the driver of the Lexus. At this there is no evidence of impairment for the victim.  At the time of the crash it was dark and raining with limited visibility in the area.
