08-22-2019 | 6:30 PM | LANCASTER,SC — On Thursday August 22, 2019 at approximately 6:30 p.m., multiple emergency responders from multiple agencies responded to a motor vehicle crash involving a UPS Truck in Lancaster South Carolina. The crash happened in the northbound lanes of Charlotte Highway (State Highway 521) just north of Nursery Road.
Firefighters from Lancaster County Fire Rescue & Shiloh Zion FD – Lancaster Station 17 Volunteer Fire Department arrived be discover a single UPS truck that sustained significant front end damage following the crash. The driver was trapped within the vehicle. Additional resources including a heavy rescue truck from Lancaster County Fire Rescue was requested.
Firefighters reportedly extricated the driver from the vehicle when they arrived on scene. A request for a medical helicopter was sent to two different agencies but, was both choppers were unable to fly to to bad weather. Northbound traffic was brought to a standstill so firefighters and EMS workers could safely operate at the scene. The sole UPS driver was transported by Lancaster County EMS to Atrium CMC Trauma Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. The extent of the injuries are unknown. A fellow UPS worker at the scene said the driver had reportedly suffered a head injury but was conscious when firefighters arrived. Part of the front of the truck cab was smashed inward.
South Carolina State Highway Patrol reopened northbound lanes about a hour after the accident.

Paterson Fire Department EMS transported the victim to an area hospital for treatment of “serious injuries. Paterson Police shutdown the road as an accident investigation was conducted.
08-15-2019 | 9:26 PM | CHARLOTTE,NC — On Thursday August 15, 2019 at around 9:26 p.m., an adult male pedestrian crossing South Tryon Street just north of John Price Road was struck by a Dodge Challenger. Police confirm the pedestrian stepped off the median and stepped out in front of a vehicle. The Challenger was traveling northbound on South Tryon Street in the inside lane when the accident happened. The victim sustained multiple broken bones according to sources. He was transported by paramedics to the trauma center at Atrium Health in Charlotte, North Carolina where he is being treated for serious injuries. The driver of the vehicle involved was not injured. Neither speed or alcohol are suspected to be a factors for the driver or the vehicle. Northbound South Tryon Street was closed for approximately two hours while police investigated the crash.
07-07-2019 | 2:47 PM | SPRINGFIELD TWP,NJ —The National Weather Service (NWS) confirmed Wednesday that an EF-0 tornado touchdown in Springfield Township, New Jersey. Meteorologists at the National Weather Service say the funnel cloud touched down at 2:47 p.m and lasted all of 4 minutes. Prior to the touchdown weather experts said there were severe weather warnings posted for the Tri-State Area prior to the tornado touching down.
This short-lived funnel cloud caused large amounts of damage in Springfield Township. The tornadoes winds which were reported to be around 70 MPH took down large trees, some toppling onto power lines and bending mental signs like toothpicks. The tornado touchdown near Route 22 and Springfield Avenue.
This EF-0 tornado is the third tornado in the last four months to touchdown in New Jersey. On July 6, 2019, a tornado touched down in Mount Laurel, New Jersey. A second tornado touched down on May 28, 2019, in the New Jersey communities of Stanhope and Hopatcong.
No injures were been reported as a result of this recent EF-0 tornado.
07-13-2019 | 5:00 PM | CHARLOTTE,NC — On Saturday July 13, 2019 at approximately 5:00 p.m.m strong storms moved through the Ballantyne area of Charlotte, North Carolina. The storms dumped several inches of rain in a short period of time. The large amounts of rain caused flash flooding through the area. Charlotte Fire Department Ladder 24 responded to a car stuck in floodwaters with people trapped around 5:30 p.m, A BMW SUV became disabled after driving through a flooded roadway at the intersection of Marvin Road & Johnston Road. Firefighters from Charlotte Fire Department Ladder 24 rescued occupants who were stranded in the vehicle. The water was so powerful it was creating powerful runoff off the sidewalk. A neighborhood on Donnington Drive off Marvin Road was also underwater. Meteorologists say about 3 inches of rain fell in this area of a period of 45 minutes.
